This painting resulted from a week I spent sketching at Sassoon Dock, Mumbai a couple of years ago. I wanted to convey something of the activity and spectacle of this dynamic fishing port, and chose to depict the boats gathered together in safe harbour, between expeditions out into the rough monsoon conditons.
