Growing up in QLD in a small country town I realised at a very young age how much I loved to express myself through Art. Living in Sydney and the pressures that go with that, for many years I have only focused on my career but realised I needed to re-assess my life. What was important and how to find balance. Still working on that but through education and better self-awareness I have re-found my passion of βArtβ.
I admire many styles, but Impressionism is by far my favourite. Artists Monet and Vince Van Gogh are my greatest influences but also regard William Turner greatly.
My creative process is layering of colours often starting with either an image or a flood as my inspiration. Layer by layer I will build not quite knowing where this will lead. I normally paint with Acrylic paint on canvas but also use inks and pastels.
Over the years I have attended art classes (Art Est, hART stART, Summer and Winter School at Sturt Gallery), short courses (NAS) and one-day workshops with a variety of well-known Australian artist for the past 9 years. I attend a 3-day Art retreat in the Blue Mountains which I look forward to each year and has been a wonderful influence on several of my paintings. My works have been exhibited in local art exhibitions and I have been commissioned.
I will continue to learn and build my skills whilst enjoying this wonderful journey.
