Artwork Description

this story is all about my mother country she walked across this land. With sandhills rocks and sandhills trees and water.

This painting needs to be framed or stretched. It’s also being sent direct from the artist at a remote art centre, Mangkaja Arts, in the WA desert. Please note there is only one mail plane a week that takes the artwork. The tracking information is then received a week later when the mail plane returns, so often the paintings are delivered before we receive the tracking information. Please expect a slightly longer wait for this very special artwork to arrive.

Artist Bio

Jeani Rangi was born at Old Cherrabun Station near the Fitzroy River. Her mother and father came outfrom the desert before she was born. Jeani grew up with one sister and two brothers though they havesince passed away. She has two daughters and three sons who all live in Fitzroy Crossing. Her parentsused to take her hunting when she was young and teach her how to live off the land.Jeani is a Walmajarri woman who lives in Mindi Rardi Community and paints at Mangkaja Arts ResourceCentre. She paints her country, which keeps her memories strong. While she paints she remembers howthey lived, hunting for food and living off the land.Jeani also paints her mother and fathers’ country from stories she was told about how they walked outfrom the desert and into the ca􀆩le country where they worked for Kartiya(White People)
