Artwork Description

"Walking On Sunshine," was inspired by the beautiful autumn tones in my garden and on my walk around Longford Tasmania where I live. Autumn is one of my favorite seasons.

In the painting the young girl is looking forward to her walk through the forest surrounded by autumn colors and falling leaves. She appears to be almost skipping as she enters the scene. There is some mystery around where the walk will lead her as the path disappears around a corner in the distance. She is stirring up the fallen leaves with every sweep of her long dress, as she walks. A cheeky little parrot is looking down at her quizzically.

As a young girl I loved the experience of running through the fallen leaves from the trees, I enjoyed searching for the different shapes and colors of autumn leaves and cataloguing them, it is a wonderful memory.

This painting is an original and part of the "In the meadows series". It is in mixed media painting using modelling paste, acrylic, collage, ink, pastels, and finished with oils measures 30"x30" ready to hang on cotton gallery wrapped canvas.

Artist Bio

I stand in awe of the natural, the beautiful, the environment and my dream is to share its color, its light, its form, its movement. If I can share just a fraction of what I find beautiful, peaceful, calming and joyful then I have contributed to making this a better world. I am a new and emerging mixed media artist having only discovered mixed media at the tender age of 72 years. Why did I leave it so long you ask? Life choices dictate our life trajectory and sometimes we do what is expected and not what we enjoy. I am now retired and in my element. Everyday I find joy in discovery, in color, in light, in form, in process and in materials. I try to convey this on canvas and on paper, realizing my childhood dream of becoming a professional artist. Last year I enrolled in the Milan Art Mastery Program and discovered a whole new world. I had been painstakingly painting landscapes for over 30 years and was totally frustrated with the process and now this new teaching allowed me to let loose and explore materials, process, color and design. Join me as I journey down this new exciting path.
