Sunbathing 1 was inspired by my beachside holidays in Europe. I loved how confident people of all ages and sizes were with their bodies that you no longer saw the nudity and just a person enjoying the seaside and the glorious sunshine. I loved painting this, it is a large painting and i really wanted to use bright and bold colours. The body is large and takes up most of the canvas, sitting back on the sand the head is back and the eyes are closed, pure holiday contentment.
