Jen Johnsen is a semi-abstract artist who moved to Australia in 2015. Instantly inspired by the totally different flora and fauna, she has been painting birds and flowers ever since. She’s fortunate enough to live in a part of Melbourne that regularly gets a lot of gang-gang and sulfur-crested cockatoos, kookaburras, and rosellas, and she loves to bring the vibrant colours of nature to life through acrylic paint and oil pastels.
From an early age, Jen exhibited a profound love for art. Her first art prize was during her school years when one of her artworks was selected to be kept at the Ronald McDonald House in NZ. She got a photoshoot and endless free doughnuts, and no other art show has ever been quite as delicious. That said, she has showcased some of her paintings at several other art shows in the last year, and also came second in the 2023 Monash Give Respect Art Exhibition and Competition.
