Artist Bio

Jen Shewring is an Australian contemporary artist based in Melbourne, creating vibrant, uplifting paintings inspired by the beauty, energy and atmosphere of the world around us.

A Top 50 Artist at Bluethumb and featured on the much-loved home renovation series 'THE BLOCK', where eight of Jen's artworks were selected and displayed in renovated homes.

Working in a semi-abstract Impressionist style, Jen combines colour, light and expressive brushwork to capture the feeling of a place or a fleeting moment. Her palettes range from bold, joyful pops of colour to softer, earthy tones, creating paintings that can bring energy to a room or a little calm to your day.

Jen’s current work takes inspiration from wandering through the Victorian countryside and escaping to tropical destinations, with abstracted florals and expressive landscapes at the heart of the collection. Rather than simply painting a place, Jen aims to capture that wonderful feeling of being there — the light, the atmosphere, the colours and the sense of getting lost in the moment.

“I’m passionate about protecting our environment and hope my paintings are enjoyed while also reminding us of the importance of preserving our natural beauty. My paintings bring the outdoors inside and are intended to create joy and happiness through a sense of harmony with the world around us.”

Her work has been featured in Grand Designs Australia and Marie Claire, and she has been a finalist in the Bluethumb Art Prize, Art to Art Unearthed Art Prize and the Petite Collection, judged by renowned Australian artist Ken Done

Jen regularly exhibits at the Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane Affordable Art Fairs, as well as exhibitions throughout Australia. She loves meeting collectors, chatting about art and hearing the stories behind the homes her paintings become part of. Her work is held in private and corporate collections in Australia and internationally.

Jen also enjoys creating commissions and working with collectors to create something unique for their space.
