Artwork Description

Bathed in the low, amber light of the savanna, this oil painting captures a hyena in the quiet aftermath of a successful hunt. The composition focuses on the animal’s unmistakable presence—powerful shoulders at rest, keen eyes still alert—set against a vast, breathing landscape.
For collectors of nature art, this painting offers more than a wildlife portrait—it is a meditation on the raw honesty of the natural world. It honors the hyena not as a caricature, but as a vital, resilient force within its ecosystem, making the work both visually compelling and quietly profound.

Artist Bio

Hi, I’m Jen, a contemporary oil painter based on the North West Coast of Tasmania. I’m inspired by the natural world around me and the animals we share it with.

Animals are the heart of my work — especially dogs. Their personality and expression make them a constant source of inspiration.

I specialise in custom animal portraits and original paintings. If you’re looking for a meaningful artwork or a unique gift, I’d love to create something for you.

I’m currently open for commissions — feel free to get in touch to discuss an idea or learn more.
