Original Artwork's Description

This acrylic painting, with some drawing materials, on stretched canvas was inspired by photos taken and sketches made when hiking the Laugavegur track in Iceland. Although white is the predominant colour, then painting has a lot of depth, painted in many layers and texture,, with the pale pink setting off the white, against of the dark colours of the earth and rocks.
The painting is finished with varnish, and the sides painted white. It has been framed in a dark stained timber float frame.

Artist Bio

I am an emerging artist, but proud to now be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. Please enjoy browsing my large range of artworks - I have been exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. Some of my work is on paper, others canvas or board. Perhaps you'd like to click on "follow" and hear about new work as it is listed.

I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I sometimes delve into still life, abstract portraits and florals.

While I have no formal art education , I have expanded my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
