Artwork Description

Artistic quality watercolours on 300gsm cotton watercolour paper, framed in inexpensive frame for display.

The southern lights has delighted many across Australia, and the aurora put on a wonderful show at Skenes Creek. I was on the beach taking photos at 3am and hope to use these photos as inspiration for a series of paintings. This is one that shows the explosion of pink against the dark sky, the beach in the foreground. It has been painted in a loose expressive style.

The painting has been framed behind a matt border in an inexpensive department store frame for display purposes. You may want to have it framed professionally, or you can easily choose another standard frame from a store.

Artist Bio

Note I am away on holidays from 15 September, so will not be shipping artwork until after my return on 18th October.

I have been making art for a few years now, and I'm now doing it full-time. I'm loving the artist journey, and am proud to be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. I have a large array of artwork available. I paint a lot, and enjoy exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. Some of my work is on paper, others canvas or board. Perhaps you'd like to click on "follow" and hear about new work as it is listed.

I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I also delve into still life, abstract portraits, urban landscapes and florals.

I am constantly adding to my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
