Original Artwork's Description

Sometimes it is fun to look at the world through an altered lens, to imagine what we see in a different, brighter colour palette. This colourful beach scene, based on the beach at Skenes Creek, along the Great Ocean Road, has been altered to highlight greens and pinks instead of the usual colours of the sand. Bring a bit of fun into your room with this small artwork. The painting has been varnished and the edges finished with white paint so it can be hung as is, or framed as shown in some of the sample images.

Artist Bio

I am an emerging artist, but proud to now be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. Please enjoy browsing my large range of artworks - I have been exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. Some of my work is on paper, others canvas or board. Perhaps you'd like to click on "follow" and hear about new work as it is listed.

I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I sometimes delve into still life, abstract portraits and florals.

While I have no formal art education , I have expanded my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
