Artwork Description

This is one of a series of abstract figure paintings, in which I have used collage in conjunction with paint to develop an interesting surface and final composition. While I have to date focused on painting landscapes, I am taken by the way figures can, like landscape, be identified as a series of shapes and lines, with no set way a figure should look. I am enjoying this new focus and hope the sense of fun is apparent in the painting. The scene was not planned, but emerged from the shapes as layers of paint and collage were added.

The acrylic painting is framed in a timber (pine) frame, so is ready to hang.

Artist Bio

I am an emerging artist, but proud to now be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. Please enjoy browsing my large range of artworks - I have been exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. Some of my work is on paper, others canvas or board. Perhaps you'd like to click on "follow" and hear about new work as it is listed.

I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I sometimes delve into still life, abstract portraits and florals.

While I have no formal art education , I have expanded my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
