Artwork Description

This is one of a series of abstract paintings was painted on the verandah of a beachside unit, while I was on holidays in between time spent swimming and snorkeling. Those water-based activities influenced this series of paintings, using a limited palette, and thinking about shapes and lines around in and out of the water. I hope in some way each painting evokes feelings of water and ocean, of being underwater or by the water, perhaps sun shining, perhaps night time, waves crashing or still.

Each is painted with acrylic paint and ink on canvas board, with drawing media and varnished for protection. Each painting is presented in a white timber "St Ives" style timber frame, ready to hang.

Please look for others in this series. Also PLEASE SEE MY COMPLETE PORTFOLIO OF PAINTINGS by clicking on my name or the small circular photo next to my name.

Artist Bio

Note I am away on holidays from 15 September, so will not be shipping artwork until after my return on 18th October.

I have been making art for a few years now, and I'm now doing it full-time. I'm loving the artist journey, and am proud to be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. I have a large array of artwork available. I paint a lot, and enjoy exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. Some of my work is on paper, others canvas or board. Perhaps you'd like to click on "follow" and hear about new work as it is listed.

I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I also delve into still life, abstract portraits, urban landscapes and florals.

I am constantly adding to my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
