Artwork Description

This is a loose, expressive painting celebrating the beautiful way watercolour and inks play with water when guided into tree shapes. It is painted with watercolour and acrylic ink on 300gsm watercolour paper and is one of a series using similar techniques. In this painting the stand of tall golden trees is broken up with reds and darks, and sits on a dark ground, with a clean white background. The standard A3-sized painting needs to be framed and would look best with a surrounding mat border.

Artist Bio

Note I am away on holidays from 15 September, so will not be shipping artwork until after my return on 18th October.

I have been making art for a few years now, and I'm now doing it full-time. I'm loving the artist journey, and am proud to be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. I have a large array of artwork available. I paint a lot, and enjoy exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. Some of my work is on paper, others canvas or board. Perhaps you'd like to click on "follow" and hear about new work as it is listed.

I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I also delve into still life, abstract portraits, urban landscapes and florals.

I am constantly adding to my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
