Artwork Description

I love these kinds of still life painting where perspective is set aside, and the shapes and colours can be distorted from reality. This is one of a series of 4 paintings done in the same limited palette, using a lot of white, along with yellow and blues. They are painted onto 6mm board using acrylic paint, collage and drawing materials, then varnished for protection.

The painting has been framed in a handmade wooden float frame, painted white. As the frame is handmade, the frames are not exactly the same size across all paintings in the series.

Artist Bio

I am an emerging artist, but proud to now be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. Please enjoy browsing my large range of artworks - I have been exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. Some of my work is on paper, others canvas or board. Perhaps you'd like to click on "follow" and hear about new work as it is listed.

I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I sometimes delve into still life, abstract portraits and florals.

While I have no formal art education , I have expanded my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
