Artwork Description

This painting is one of a series painted following making expressive sketches of the ocean and the rocks and rockpools around Skenes Creek, along the Great Ocean Road. It is meant to convey a sense of being there, by the ocean, seeing the movement of the water, the seaweed swaying with the water, against the immovable and ancient rocks.

The series comprises Dancing seaweed, Seashore colours, Joyful splashes and When the wave washed away.

The sides are painted white so it can be hung as it is, or framed as in the in situ photos. This is one of a series of more abstracted seascapes painted in this same colour palette.

I have been making art for a few years now, and I'm now doing it full-time. I'm loving the artist journey, and am proud to be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. I have a large array of artwork available. I paint a lot, and enjoy exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I also delve into still life, abstract portraits, urban landscapes and florals.

I am constantly adding to my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
