Artwork Description

Acrylic paint, with drawing materials for added mark making, on stretched canvas.

I have joined a couple of art trips to the Kimberley area of Western Australia, where the land is vast and in winter the land is dry and brown. This painting attempts to capture this wide panorama, through the choice of this panoramic format. The colours and marks are exaggerated but draws heavily on views I have enjoyed at the beginning and end of the day when the light and shadows have so much contrast.

The edges are painted white, and it can be hung as it is, or framed as in the in situ photos.

Can also be hung vertically.

Artist Bio

Note I will be away on holidays for a month from 15 September and unable to ship larger works in days leading up to this so please order early to avoid a long delay. Feel free to check as I might be able to send yours even on the 15th - despite me having put myself on holiday mode.

I have been making art for a few years now, and I'm now doing it full-time. I'm loving the artist journey, and am proud to be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. I have a large array of artwork available. I paint a lot, and enjoy exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. Some of my work is on paper, others canvas or board. Perhaps you'd like to click on "follow" and hear about new work as it is listed.

I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I also delve into still life, abstract portraits, urban landscapes and florals.

I am constantly adding to my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
