Artwork Description

I wanted to try a landscape painting in blue colours, breaking from the local green landscape colours. This is an abstracted version of a scene from the hills behind our house at Skenes Creek on Victoria's Great Ocean Road. I love the result, with lovely patterns and a harmonious palette combining to create a unique perspective on the countryside. This is one of three in this series.

I have painted this using acrylic paint with home made collage papers. Finished wth a gloss surface.

The painting is ready to hang, with sides painted white.

Remembering Dolly Parton as I finished this.

Artist Bio

Note I will be away on holidays for a month from 14 September and unable to ship larger works in days leading up to this so please order early to avoid a long delay.

I have been making art for a few years now, and I'm now doing it full-time. I'm loving the artist journey, and am proud to be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. I have a large array of artwork available. I paint a lot, and enjoy exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. Some of my work is on paper, others canvas or board. Perhaps you'd like to click on "follow" and hear about new work as it is listed.

I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I also delve into still life, abstract portraits, urban landscapes and florals.

I am constantly adding to my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
