They dance by the bay

This lovely expressive painting in a limited colour palette draws on a recent trip to the Bay of Fires in Tasmania, where I loved the lines of the trees against the stunning rocks and water. This painting simplifies a view, to highlight those elegant trees that posed like dancers on the rocks in the water.

The painting was one of several started with techniques taught by Australian artists Zoe Sernack at a weekend workshop, and finished in the studio at home. `The painting is unframed, but is ready to hang with sides painted white. A frame can be added if preferred.

I am an emerging artist, but proud to now be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I sometimes delve into still life, abstract portraits and florals.

While I have no formal art education , I have expanded my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
