Artwork Description

This is one of a series of 3 paintings in which I have painted on a larger scale than ever before. The painting is bold and bright, with several layers of paint built up to ensure an interesting surface. Oil sticks and other acrylic paint markers were used to draw marks on top. I recently returned from a trip to the Kimberley in Western Australia, and the colours of the escarpment were inspiration for this focus on colour. See also TREES ADORN THE SUNBURNED COUNTRY.
The painting is unframed. The sides are painted white so it can be hung as it is, or a frame could be added.

Artist Bio

Note I will be away on holidays for a month from 14 September and unable to ship larger works in days leading up to this so please order early to avoid a long delay.

I have been making art for a few years now, and I'm now doing it full-time. I'm loving the artist journey, and am proud to be high on the list of Bluethumb's rising stars. I have a large array of artwork available. I paint a lot, and enjoy exploring watercolour, oil and cold wax medium, acrylic paintings and mixed media as well as printmaking. Some of my work is on paper, others canvas or board. Perhaps you'd like to click on "follow" and hear about new work as it is listed.

I sold more than 100 paintings with Bluethumb in 2025 and was included in Bluethumb's 2024 "Top emerging women artists" curation and "Notable seascape artists of 2024" curation, as well as other curations in 2025 . I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia and beyond. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. I also delve into still life, abstract portraits, urban landscapes and florals.

I am constantly adding to my art education through many classes, online and in person, and through intensive art experiences , with guidance and mentoring from many fabulous artists.

In February 2025 I retired from a long professional career working in research in the area of family studies.
