I always painted, and as a child would win art many art prizes. Initially I painting just to express the joy and brightness of the coloured world but as a realised that I was good at it, I started painting to win prizes. I was more famous under 12 years old for being a child art prodigy, than I have very been since. After Graduating from Curtin University with a double major in painting and sculpture my visual arts practice has focused on regular exhibitions and fulfilling commission. Initially I was fascinated with portraiture and realism, publishing 3 books of portrait paintings, with commissioned painting of The Governor, The Lord Mayor of Perth and The Chief Justice WA all part of a collection of 69 paintings for exhibition and book "The People of Perth and Western Australia a portrait,". After a painting residency in Cottesloe WA, I published the book "Cottesloe, The People the Chair" which included portraits of beach goes and Cottesloe landscapes painting the sea. This was followed with another collection of portraits and book "The Children of Perth ". I have also completed commissions for the Royal Family of Dubai UAE. My work is held in numerous public and private collections. I became very busy with my sculpture practice and for 23 years I traveled the world creating Sandsculpture installations that people could walk through and experience. I became interested in bringing people into the moment.
A cancer diagnosis made me experience every moment more brightly. It woke up the young child who lover to paint, I just painting to express joy. I use bright and beautiful colours of acrylic paint. Currently my painting focus is on abstract landscapes, creating impressionistic work with gestural lines and telling story with colour fields and mark making. I’m interested in simplifying the work using the paint and colour to evoke an emotional response. Once agin I am interested in bringing people into the moment.
