Artwork Description

Many layers of history are represented in this work, with a building up of the surface, and constant scraping back to reveal a history, like an old wall or "ghost building".

This original artwork is cradled with Tasmanian Oak hardwood, which remains unpainted. This work is professionally hinge mount, ready to hang. After purchase, a UV protective varnish will be applied and the painting will be finished with a layer of cold wax.

Artist Bio

Welcome to my creative world. I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Jenny, and I’m a mixed media abstract artist from the Gold Coast, Australia.

My work explores the past and its relationships between people. I delve into the heartache and happiness of our ancestors, parents, grandparents, and the intersection of surfaces that surround them. I feel it is a rollercoaster of emotions that I hope to convey to the viewer.

I create paintings that are a representation of old surfaces, old walls, containing every mark, a history of colours, and a whisper of the people they’ve seen in times gone by. What have these walls witnessed, endured, and what do they contain?

Each artwork is a process of many layers, using acrylic paint, pencil, collage and oil pastels to enrich the surface and allow for an excavation to the underpainting. This process is cathartic, as I seek to explore and understand the relationships and emotions that make up a family’s history.

I would love to hear from you if you have questions or would like to discuss any of my work.
