Artwork Description

Sunset Sonata is a lyrical exploration of harmony, connection, and the quiet music of nature. Two figures wade through a warm, flowing river, their gestures echoing a dance, held in a moment of shared grace. Above them, birds soar through a canopy alive with evening light, their wings outstretched in perfect counterpoint to the movement below.
Part of Jennifer Stepanik's Rhythm and Romance series, this work invites the viewer to sense the heart qualities of joy, courage, and love woven into its layers. Inspired by the idea of prophetic intention, Jennifer begins each painting with hidden poetry and written intention under the surface, allowing those words to resonate through the finished piece. Sunset Sonata aims to shift the energy of a space, awakening feelings of connection, harmony and quiet joy.

Artist Bio

My work explores the relationship between landscape and innerscape, using the symbolic language of nature, rhythm and archetypal imagery to explore themes of intention, resilience, transformation and connection.
Working primarily in oil and charcoal, I create layered, intuitive works that combine landscape, elemental qualities, and symbolic figures drawn from spiritual and mythological traditions. Earth, water, fire, and movement each carry both visual and emotional significance within the work, acting as visual metaphors for grounding, flow, courage, renewal and personal transformation.
My creative practice is influenced by the restorative power of the natural landscape, an early connection to rhythm and dance, to years working in both colour focused creative industries and heart-centred therapeutic spaces. These experiences have shaped my understanding of aesthetic harmony, embodied expression, and the emotional language that exists beyond words.
Through colour, texture, mark-making and symbolic composition, I aim to create works that are both visually compelling and deeply personal. My intention is for each painting to become more than an image- to serve as a visual anchor that reminds the viewer of an intention they are cultivating, a quality they are embodying, or a path they are consciously choosing.
