I am J R: a neurodivergent and queer, non-binary artist, living and working on Darkinjung Country. All my life I have created art to find a sense of meaning and connection. It’s my sincere hope my art helps others to experience feelings of meaning and connection as well - to the self, others, earth and cosmos.
——— Quality ———
The art I create and share on Bluethumb has been designed to last a lifetime. This means using archival quality surfaces, materials and pigments with high lightfastness ratings. All works are further sealed and protected with UV resistant varnish. Kept in the right conditions and care, an artwork could be treasured for generations.
——— Sustainability ———
As my art celebrates people and the planet, it’s important to me to source ethical and environmentally responsible materials such as FSC certified woods on smaller pre-framed works, and sustainable canvas (100% post consumer recycled plastic, archival grade standard) on larger works.
——— Process ———
I have studied art in formal and informal settings. I have also exhibited in formal and informal settings. Some highlights for me were a solo exhibition in Gosford Hospital and an artist residency at Chris O’Brien Lighthouse. The most important thing to me is how my art makes myself and others feel. When I create an artwork and it fills me with a sense of peace, connection or joy, I can only hope that someone else might also feel this way when looking at it.

I am open to commissions and have worked with clients to create works for wedding presents, celebrations of a new child, commemorative portraits, artworks for homes and living spaces and artworks for professional or commercial spaces.
— Personal Commissions —
A personalised and emotionally meaningful commission might be a wedding gift, anniversary gift, birthday present, painting celebrating the birth of a child or new addition to the family, family portrait or a commemorative portrait for someone who has passed away.

I am happy to learn what your business offers to people and represent this through my style in the dimensions that you require for your space. Due to the themes in my art, it has lent itself well to health, therapy and care industry settings.
