Artwork Description

From my shore series of mixed media ocean inspired paintings, this art work is rendered in a watercolour-like finish on canvas employing free-flow acrylics and medium. I love the abstract nature of the closest view of the water wash.
The art work on canvas is gallery wrapped on a timber internal frame and will be a great piece for bedroom, dining, loungeroom. office, hallway.

Artist Bio

Jennifer Webb, Artist in residence at Port Art collective in Port Melbourne, has worked long term on series that are Melbourne-inspired, Ocean inspired and figures. She has had residencies both overseas and in Australia.

She has been consistently creating paintings inspired by Melbourne, portraying various water views around Melbourne city since her nostalgic return from living outside of Australia. Brisbane and Sydney-inspired series are also now ongoing.
Seeing Melbourne through new eyes had renewed her long-term endearment to city skylines as a source of inspiration in her paintings. Ocean and figure subjects appear in her other series, also long-term, but throughout recent years the skylines have dominated.

The skyline paintings mostly revolve around capturing the essence of a city's interactions between its surrounding water, structures and icons. . These studies in implied line, shape, form and colour have very little of the figurative detail of her previous Melbourne paintings, but all of the textures, ambience and mood with hints of recognisable landmarks as subtle yet significant focal points. Her ocean paintings capture movement and ambience in a few different sub-series that include the shore, the reefs, and the waves.

Several of the more popular series are also available as hand-finished giclee prints on canvas, (the closest looking reproduction to the original artworks, listed as 'other media' they have the 'patina' or surface of an original but are a limited edition canvas giclee that has been embellished with mixed media. )
