Artwork Description

This contemporary Australian artwork celebrates the striking beauty of the yellow tailed blackcockatoo, perched among brilliant golden banksia blooms against a luminous backdrop of layered blues and whites. Inspired by expressive Australian modernism, the composition combines bold colour fields with confident brushwork, allowing the elegant silhouette of the cockatoo and the sculptural forms of the banksia to become the unmistakable focal point.

Rich blacks and warm golden yellows contrast beautifully with cool blue and white tones, capturing the unique light and atmosphere of the Australian landscape. Simplified forms, layered textures and expressive mark-making create a painting that feels both vibrant and timeless, celebrating the connection between Australia’s iconic native birds and flora.

A bold contemporary piece for collectors who appreciate Australian wildlife, modern abstract art and expressive use of colour

Artist Bio

I have been drawing as long as I can remember and started art school at what is now known as TAFE when first I left school .
However , the convoluted path of life led me to become a Registered Nurse. Being able to work part time has allowed me more spare time and I have rediscovered my creative side .

I have always loved Australias natural environment and especially our beautiful native birds.

I have dabbled in painting , ceramics and print making courses in the past, but I find the convenience of hand drawing and painting on a digital art canvas suits me well as I can easily take my materials anywhere I go and immediately draw and colour while out amongst the birds and the trees.
The birds are often my favourite subject but I also draw from my many experiences of travelling in Asia and Australia.

Thank you for taking the time to read about what inspires me.

I can honestly say that creating these images brings me a lot of joy and I would love to share this with others.
