Artwork Description

The Takahe was thought extinct but rediscovered I have combined dark blue in the bird along with olive greens and blues and red accents of the New Zealander Christmas Bush make this piece an ideal statement artwork for modern, coastal, Scandinavian or Mid-Century inspired interiors. Designed to bring colour, balance and a touch of the natural environment into the home, it forms part of my ongoing collection exploring naive birds through a contemporary geometric lens.

Artist Bio

I have been drawing as long as I can remember and started art school at what is now known as TAFE when first I left school .
However , the convoluted path of life led me to become a Registered Nurse. Being able to work part time has allowed me more spare time and I have rediscovered my creative side .

I have always loved Australias natural environment and especially our beautiful native birds.

I have dabbled in painting , ceramics and print making courses in the past, but I find the convenience of hand drawing and painting on a digital art canvas suits me well as I can easily take my materials anywhere I go and immediately draw and colour while out amongst the birds and the trees.
The birds are often my favourite subject but I also draw from my many experiences of travelling in Asia and Australia.

Thank you for taking the time to read about what inspires me.

I can honestly say that creating these images brings me a lot of joy and I would love to share this with others.
