Iris

Watercolour painting of a single purple Iris viewed from above. I am intrigued by the natural geometry that can be visible in the form of flowers. This one was especially prominent and inspired me to paint it. The painting is on rough textured cotton rag paper, wonderful for the wet in wet technique I love to employ. There is a 1” grey painted border kept for framing.

Currently painting Abstract Expressionist paintings and Abstract Florals, and the occasional seascape or landscape.

I mostly paint with palette knives for a direct and immediate impression and interesting textures.
