This painting uses primary colours to create a surreal atmosphere typical of Dali paintings. It introduces some of his sculptures and paintings in the form of a bent clock, an elephant on elongated legs and a butterfly, all typical of the objects to be found in Dali's own artworks. His portrait captures his crazy stare typically seen in photographs of the artist himself.Waves crashing on the shore with clouds approaching in the background. An approaching storm perhaps? The water is a deep blue and the waves are rough as the water is stirred up by the wind.A blue green sea turtle swimming over a multi-coloured coral reef with sunlight shining down through the water. The coral is yellow, blue, purple and pink coloured with green and pink parrot fish and clown fish and other small tropical fish swimming over the reef.The Basin swimming area at Rottnest Island, with the sheds and pine trees in the background. The foreground features the reef surrounding the island, a favourite swimming and snorkeling spot for holidaymakers. The reef in the foreground is highlighted by the surrounding turquoise waters.
