I am an abstract artist living in Sydney that has always been actively engaged in various forms of creativity. My artistic path has been ever evolving with experience in photography,ceramics and painting. After many years of reproducing nature in my art I have pushed that style aside and focused my skills on abstract painting. Something I’ve always had an interest in. I’ve enjoyed learning and experimenting along the way.
I have had the wonderful opportunity to attend several workshops with both Australian and international artists as well as at the National Art School Sydney. I also have exhibited some works in Group Exhibitions and have been a finalist in some art prizes in and around Sydney.
I’m highly influenced by the seaside and life around me. I find I’m often drawn to blues and greens and my works exhibit bright colours that excite me.
I paint intuitively allowing the painting to develop with freedom through many layers. It may start with a sweeping brushstroke and a selection of colours based on my feelings at the time but the works change many times before completion. Sometimes I have the urge to “throw“ paint on the canvas and this often peeps though! Working with artist quality acrylics and some textures I will take you on a journey into my world.
My tools as well as brushes are often unconventional like a stick, a piece of bark, sponges or kitchen utensils. The markings from these create interest and add to the final outcome.
