Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile. Living on the Sunshine Coast I am surrounded by colour and nature which inspire my abstract paintings and prints. I completed a Fine Arts Course in Sydney graduating in 1987 from Hornsby College of TAFE.
I have been making images since childhood but it is only now in retirement that I am exploring different mediums, experimenting with different styles and gradually finding my own language. At present I am focusing on the landscape.
When starting a painting I usually have a colour palette in mind, sometimes a sketch but no particular design. Intuitive brush strokes begin the journey of discovery where a composition suggests itself and the painting evolves from there. Letting of all representation is the hardest thing to do and the freedom can be both exhilarating and intimidating but the spontaneity is crucial to the work. Getting into the zone of "painter's trance is where the magic happens and the brush takes over finding its own language.
