Jenny was born in Hobart, Tasmania and grew up in Canberra before moving to Melbourne in 1984.
Her kindergarten report revealed that she – “shows an outstanding talent in drawing and painting” and her love and gift of art continues. However, life got busy and she didn’t really pursue art until her family had grown but the passion was always there. Along the way she pursued creativity in other areas such as making porcelain dolls and miniatures, silk painting, pottery and leadlight.
Jenny has done other creative things instead such as teaching craft in women’s prison, art class for people with anxiety, styling homes and work spaces and renovating. She is also still styling and renovating.
In recent years she has also combined her art with teaching and explaining mental illness from a personal perspective. This is a topic that is difficult to explain as it is invisible and so, she decided to use her gift to provide a visual explanation. This has been a successful and encouraging form of art helping a number of people and has led her to give numerous talks about living with mental illness.
Jenny’s passion – “Light and Life”:
“I love the beauty of light. My aim is to portray it in all its forms and emotions. I have also always been fascinated with the magical qualities of light as it flickers, illuminates and radiates and enables shadowy contrasts.”
Found on a scrap of paper in the studio of Leonardo da Vinci:
“Lord of Light
and Lord of all things,
Show me the way
that I might
paint light worthily”
“This is also my desire!”
