Artwork Description

Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

This painting is based on a photograph my son took while walking in the Blue Mountains, NSW.
I took inspiration from the style and colours Piet Mondrian used in his painting, Woods near Oele.

This painting shows five different views of an unusual shaped teapot arranged in a semi-circle with their spouts facing inwards. The teapots are tall with a bent and twisted form. The spout is wiggly. The teapot views are side on, on the diagonals and front on and are coloured from left to right, green, white, purple, orange and black. The background behind the teapots is a series of semi-circular curves broken up into blocks of white, orange, green and purple. Each block and teapot is outlined in black. The foreground is a narrow semi-oval shape and similarly divided up into coloured blocks. This painting shows a chestnut-fronted or severe macaw perched on a wooden souvenir stall. Its head is bent over as it preens its breast. It is mostly green in colour with patches of orange and blue on the wings. The beak is black and the patches around the eyes are white with lines of small black feathers. Its feet are grey with thin black stripes.
In the background there are trees growing in a patch of grass. Only the trunks are visible. Sunshine dots the grass between the tree shadows.
