At the core of my work (especially my larger works) are desert landscapes, the ancient world (particularly Ancient Rome), ornament and abstraction. From 1997 to 2011 Arabic ornament and architectural elements (as well as the desert landscape) represented the core focus of my art. Desert landscapes remain but Arabic art had been superseded by the armour, weaponry, ornament, architectural elements and sculpture of Ancient Rome.
Within my (usually) larger Roman/landscape paintings I aim to evoke a sense of the hidden narrative, the epic, the surreal, the ornamental, the archaic as well as beauty. Recent additions to this of subject matter are portraiture and the human figure.
Since 2013 (and largely explored in small to medium canvases) I have explored a varied range of subject matter. These include abstraction, silhouettes, the Gothic, space and depictions of film scenes.
Accompanying my painting has been drawing which, since 2009 I have produced much more of and whose subject matter mirrors that within my paintings.
I have been exhibiting my work throughout Gippsland‚ Melbourne and Ballarat since 1998 and have entered (and continue to do so) many art prizes.
