Artwork Description

The top of our very steep road plateaus into paddocks that over look the beautiful Glenelg National Park. It was a very hot Summers day at the time of taking reference shots for this painting, and I was very taken by the full moon so clear and bright, contrasting with the vivid blue sky.
I particularly enjoyed experimenting with the composition of this piece, in order to convey the sheer enormity of the sky.

Artist Bio

Hi There,

I am an Australian mixed media artist located in South West Victoria, To date I have exhibited and sold my work locally. I love working with mixed media as it feels open, layered, experimental, unconventional, break the rules, and make your own type of ‘process’. I do however have a strong affinity with watercolour which is included in every piece I make.

I am located in rural South West Victoria right on the boarder of South Australia. Our property and the national parks that surround us are my ‘muse’. I am originally born and raised in the Bayside suburbs of Melbourne, however the pull to move was so strong that we packed up and left Melbourne city life around 4 years ago.

My genuine love and respect for our surroundings deeply informs my work and I am in constant awe and gratitude to live amongst rare native animals, birds and the bush, which includes beautiful rivers, estuaries and rugged coastlines.

I have kept a regular practice as an artist for over 10 years. Visual arts and creativity have always been a part of my life. I have a professional background in Interior Decoration and Design and currently run my business with my husband. Art forms a large part of my “me time “and I have always prioritised blocks of time throughout my week to practise.

I have professional rendering and drawing training via my Interior Design qualifications, and I have also completed many artist lead workshops and courses over the years. As many of artist ‘s would agree in the end we are all self-taught. I feel this when I allow my art and life to inform the next idea, the next piece, the next series. And as time has passed this has also created cycles and rhythms in my work that I find I keep revisiting from different perspectives. I also enjoy allowing my intuition, curiosity, and exploration to lead the way in expressing what I see in my surroundings. In this way of expressing, my work tends to come through via abstraction. I am lover of all things ‘whimsy’, which has been a through-line and a constant throughout my life ever since I was little, and although I try at times to make serious more realistic works in all areas of my creative life the whimsy generally takes over in one way or another.

I share my art, in the hope to relay and inform the true beauty of the bush in all its forms with a little of my ‘whimsy’ in the mix.
