Jessica Knight Locke is an independent artist and musician living in Melbourne. She mostly works with acrylic paint on canvas.
Jessica studied Fine Arts at COFA in Sydney before moving to Melbourne to study English and Philosophy. Art, music, literature and philosophy all play a role in Jessica's artistic practice and she views the disciplines as interdependent rather than separate.
Jessica's paintings are strongly influenced by modern abstract painters such as Mark Rothko and Helen Frankenthaler. In particular, Jessica is interested in exploring the transcendental and meditative effect of pure colour and form and the precedence of the unconscious in the creative process.
