This piece, 'Man as the strength of his back', is part of a series exploring human emotion as it is secreted and stored in the body.
For this piece, I let the tone of the skin and the background emerge together, the light and texture of each becoming a reflection and mirror of the other. The shape of muscle and bone speaks to the weight of things carried by the strength of his back. The shadows and dips of those same muscles create spaces that conceal, camouflage and, perhaps, cradle, the weight of carrying such things.
