This artwork was created because Jessica wanted to use beautiful bright colours as a statement. Too often she was told and taught that art should be darker, in both colours and emotions. This represents how art can be “too pretty”, colourful and chaotically positive, and be just as valuable and impactful. The crown symbolises how the artist Jessica takes back her crown in her creative freedom by defying the idea of what art should be.

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
Jessica Saliba truly embodies the meaning of “create” through her artwork. Growing up, Jessica never expected her art to be as important to her as it has proven to be; but the ability it gave her to create something that people value and appreciate added meaning to her personal journey. Jessica uses her creativity to send a positive message and impact others–whether it be a fun little artwork that brightens someone’s day, or a deep commentary on world events, such as the Beirut Explosion.
Completely self taught, Jessica mostly uses pencils for a more traditional artwork, but enjoys embracing the ‘child within’ and adding an unexpected but welcome flair by creating accents with watercolour paint, acrylic paint, gold leaf, glitter and much more. She enjoys contrasting between bright, vibrant colours and darker colours for an eye-catching, almost magical piece.
Jessica Saliba is incredibly grateful for all of the people who have continually supported her and hopes that her artworks can be just as meaningful to you as they are to her.
