Artwork Description

The quietest painting in my Between the Flags series of small Australian seascape oil paintings. A woman stands in the shallows in her sun-bleached dress, unhurried, while swimmers bob in the whitewater behind her and a glass-green wave folds over itself. She has nowhere to rush to, nothing to perform - just the ritual of the beach, the towel on the sand, the day stretched wide open.

Second in the series. Each painting is complete in itself; together they make a shoreline.

Oil on stretched canvas, signed on the front, wired and ready to hang. Ships boxed from Melbourne with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Artist Bio

Jessica Taft is a Melbourne-based Australian figurative artist painting the ocean, the body, and the quiet space between them. Classically trained, she works in oil and watercolour, building each painting the way a self is built: layer by layer, passages of fine realism melting into expressive abstraction.

Her work explores what we carry - grief, joy, heartbreak, becoming - and the moment that weight changes shape into strength. Figures suspended between memory and now. Flowers blooming straight out of the body. Water you can finally stop fighting and float in. Made for thoughtful people who want their homes to feel like sanctuaries, and who know strength and softness were never opposites.
