Artwork Description

Sun-drenched colours and relaxed figures define Nowhere to Be, a figurative beach painting that celebrates leisure and the slow rhythms of coastal life. Painted during my time in Italy, it reflects warmth and connection. The figures are unselfconscious and content. There is nowhere to get to. The rippling water and vibrant architecture capture both place and emotion, making this a joyous and contemplative work.

Artist Bio

Jessica Taft is a Melbourne-based Australian figurative artist painting the ocean, the body, and the quiet space between them. Classically trained, she works in oil and watercolour, building each painting the way a self is built: layer by layer, passages of fine realism melting into expressive abstraction.

Her work explores what we carry - grief, joy, heartbreak, becoming - and the moment that weight changes shape into strength. Figures suspended between memory and now. Flowers blooming straight out of the body. Water you can finally stop fighting and float in. Made for thoughtful people who want their homes to feel like sanctuaries, and who know strength and softness were never opposites.

Her current body of work, What We Carried, is available here as original paintings.
