Artwork Description

In Yesterday's Storm (Tempestas Hesterni), the horizon holds the memory of unrest- the sky charged with movement, the sea caught between turbulence and calm. Through layered brushwork and shifting light, the painting captures the quiet that follows intensity: that fragile, luminous moment when the world begins to steady itself again.
The work reflects on nature's cycles of release and renewal- how storms both elemental and emotional, transform the landscape and the self. The golden light emerging through the clouds suggests not resolution, but restoration; a reminder that beauty often arrives in the aftermath.

Artist Bio

Jessie Cooney is an Australian oil painter whose work explores the meeting place of science, spirit and the natural world. Her practice honours classical technique: each painting is built in luminous layers using traditional oils, a slow, deliberate process that invites time, reflection and transformation.

With a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science and a Master's degree in Health Promotion, Jessie is fascinated with life’s intricate details- from the branching of trees to the microscopic structure of cells- observing with wonder at how energy shapes and informs them. Her paintings are quiet studies of connection and contemplation, exploring the organic and timeless nature of oils.

Through her artistry, Jessie invites you to pause, to look closely, and to remember that every creation has its own soul and a purpose unto itself. Discovering that purpose is part life's great mystery, once solved we understand the value inherent in every moment.
