Artwork Description

This painting is shaped by a place my family love—a shoreline that feels woven into the rhythm of our small town. It’s a favourite spot for peaceful summer days, where the tide, colour, and light are never the same twice. The landscape is constantly shifting, adapting to fires, floods, and erosion, yet it always finds a way to remain familiar. This artwork reflects that sense of resilience and belonging: a place treasured by locals, rich with memory and change.

Artist Bio

Jill Hays is a North Coast landscape artist whose work captures the changing light, colour, and atmosphere of the Australian bush and hinterland. Working in acrylic and oil on canvas and canvas paper, her paintings are grounded in direct observation but shaped by memory, movement, and feeling.

At its core, Jill’s practice is about connection—to place, to light, and to fleeting moments of beauty in the everyday. This first collection serves as an introduction to her visual language, with future collections continuing to expand on these themes and deepen her exploration of the North Coast landscape.
