Hi 🙋🏾♀️,
My name is Jacinta , born in Kenya and residing in New South Wales, Australia. I started off as a self-taught visual artist in 2013, after completing a bachelor’s degree in Communication at Daystar University (Kenya), in 2012. I did freelance art until 2016 when I realised my dream to further my studies in visual arts at the University of South Australia. I did two masters, one in Visual Art and Creative Practice and another in Design, Contemporary Art, (2017-2019).
Between 2014 and 2016, I was able to do three Solo exhibitions and a couple joint ones around Nairobi. While in Australia, I have participated in South Australia Living Artists (SALA) Festival in 2017, 2018 & 2019 through exhibitions around Adelaide. In addition, I participated in Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition 2019, where I was awarded the ‘Hill Smith Gallery/University of South Australia Postgraduate Award’.
I work with Acrylics, Oils, Water colours, mixed media, sculptures and installation art. Observations of human interactions motivate my work and are intrinsic elements throughout my creative process. My work celebrates all that is positive, to make our world a better place.
You can can find my artworks in private collections in Kenya, South Africa, Canada and Australia.
Thank you for your interest in my work. Enjoy 😊
Cheers,
JMwangi
