The reflected colours in the clouds are from the crimson sunset in the west. The wind was whipping up the waves to create a choppy surf. I live two streets from the beach and often sit on the sand and just watch the ocean. It is mesmerising. Sketches and a few photos are enough to remind me of the beauty of that particular day.

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
I’ve been making art since I graduated with a Fine Arts degree in 1996 from the Charles Darwin University in Darwin. I worked with artists making etchings for ten years. These artists ranged from the amazing Garry Shead to talented aboriginal artists such as Dorothy Ngapanardi who won the Anoriginal Art Award in 2001.
I now paint in oils and acrylics. Over the last few years during periods of isolation because of the pandemic, I have been painting things physically close to home: my house, my backyard, my garden, the local beach close by. The safety and seclusion of my house has resulted in a series of interiors which show an intimate vignette of my environment and the personal areas of my home. I was thrilled to be included as a finalist in the recent Gosford Art Prize where there were 145 exhibitors chosen from over 900 entries.
Once I could venture further afield safely, I painted the scenery in my area: the beach, the bush, the changing sky.
I also like to paint nudes. I used to attend a local life drawing weekly group and I use this pile of drawings as reference for nude paintings.
I am also happy to do a commission.
