Artwork Description

As the muddy water slowly clears and the layer of sediment eases you are reminded as time moves forward the many layers it holds. New life blossoms and the beauty of the land breathes new life. Colours emerge with vigour and vibrance. This artwork represents to me, my river in Tumbulgum, northern New South Wales. Layered artwork using various mediums. This painting is not about tragedy but rather renewal and memories our town Tumbulgum holds.
Alluvial Plains was the runner up chosen painting in the Ink Gin 2024 Competition.
This painting has full painted edges and is signed and stamped on the back.

Artist Bio

I am an Australian artist living in Northern NSW in the small village of Tumbulgum.

As an abstract expressionism artist, my paintings and artwork are based on emotion; they are pure and personal.
Mainly painting on larger canvases my chosen medium is oils, oil pastels and mixed medium of hand stitching into the canvas.
Oil allows me to colour blend and create a sense of depth and richness to my works. I build up many layers which then results in a highly tactile surface which I love.
Through these layers the rawness and hint of colours present themself creating detail and paintings within paintings.

My art is drawn from my surroundings of the Northern Rivers, life experiences and memories which I hold dear.
Sometimes my subconscious plays a part in my artwork and after a piece is completed, I clearly see the link to current or past emotions or feelings of mine.

When I paint I feel complete. Painting and all it brings is settling for me. My artwork takes time, and many layers are applied. I am not in a rush to produce art but more so to express and paint with every brush stroke, encompassing feeling, precision and care. My art changes, just as emotions and moments in my life do, therefore; no two pieces of my art are ever the same.

My aim is for you to find a connection with any of my art and if one appeals it is here for you to fill and beautify your space.

I am more than happy to discuss any of my work :)
