Artwork Description

I was inspired by a trip to Kakadu and the vivid colours of the sky, rocks, vegetation - everything in fact. And the bird life was amazing. I have tried to capture a part of this in this work.

Artist Bio

I am a self- taught artist who has always had a passion for drawing and painting. I am very much a realist and love the way light creates form and colour. I constantly experiment with new materials and styles but tend to use predominantly oils, watercolour and acrylics in that order. As my skills have increased, I have exhibited my work in a variety of shows including the Camberwell, Bayside and Mornington Rotary Art Shows. My most recent achievement is to be a finalist in the 2021 Australian Watercolour Muster with my painting Sea Gems 2. I belong to three Art groups – Mentone Mordialloc Art Group, Beaumaris Art Group and Artists of the Valley in Casterton. My work can be found online via Gallery 247 and Bluethumb. I have maintained a relatively steady sales history both in shows and in commissions. To date, I have received 14 awards for my work including Best in Show and Best in Section. In 2016 I held my first exhibition in partnership with two fellow artists. This was through Kingston Arts and held at the Shirley Burke Theatre in Parkdale. I then held an exhibition with a photographer friend at the Joan McCrae gallery, Beaumaris Art Group in August 2019. I am passionate about growing as an artist and am happiest either in the studio or on location with a brush in hand!
