Artwork Description

My passion for boardwalks is a part of this painting. This time I have captured a peaceful moment on a long walk with only a single figure in sight. This landscape shows nature meeting urban life which can be seen by the bridge overhead and the tranquility below. This scene in the painting reflects memories of a quiet place I visited frequently from my early childhood. I love painting the strong effects of light and the move from the darkness under the bridge to the brightness of the water at the end of the walk. Absolutely loved painting this and enjoying the memories.
The painting was createdplayfully with oil paints on 3mm plywood.

Artist Bio

I'm a passionate artist who loves to paint, draw and photograph the beautiful effects of light on the world around me.
Most of my time is spent painting or photographing landscapes and dogs or thinking about it! I particularly love landscapes in wetlands areas, including the beautiful wildlife. It is a place where I find peace and solitude. I mostly paint in oil on board or canvas, sometimes in acrylics. Oil paint gives me more time to play with the painting and let it evolve. I find it very therapeutic. My choice of palette often includes earthy tones, the warm burnt umber and yellow ochre are favourites of mine.

I also have a dear love of all dogsand cats. I enjoy finding time to paint and draw family and friend's pets. It gives me so much satisfaction to make dog and cat parents see their beloved pets come to life in oil on a canvas, wood, board or on paper. Especially when their pets are no longer with them. It's so rewarding to hear how much a painting or drawing means to them. Often the inspiration for my paintings comes from photos, that I take. I love to capture a special moment on my camera which I know I would like to paint at some point. I am often drawn towards leading lines and strong light contrasts and quiet places where there is some solitude. There are endless beautiful moments which can become permanent in a painting, a photograph or a drawing. This is my goal, to make as many of them permanent in my art and share with other art lovers.

My artistic journey began for me as a young child and then formally I completed a Diploma of Visual Arts at TAFE, Kogarah, which gave me valuable experience in a variety of disciplines. One of those was oil painting. Since then the beauty of oil painting has consumed me and set me on a long path to focus on painting. Otherwise, I am happily drawing or taking photographs.
