Artwork Description

I used to walk to my first full time job through the suburbs of southern Sydney and one sunny day I was joined by a King Charles Spaniel who had escaped his yard. No matter how many times I told him to go home, he was determined to experience a day in the office, his face friendly, enthusiastic, resolute. Finally I had to cross a main road, so I kept him close to me, eventually bringing him up the elevator into my office. Thankfully my boss was a dog lover and burst into laughter as I explained whilst apologising over our unexpected guest. All ended well, as we called his owner to pick him up safely, however whenever I see a King Charles Spaniel, I always think back to that day.

This artwork would look great with white or off white matting and a light wood frame.

Artist Bio

I am a Sydney-based artist working primarily in fluid mediums; watercolour, inks and gouache.

After years of dabbling in various forms of art and craft including collage, stamping and photography, I stumbled on a drawing course in 2010 and was immediately hooked. Since then I have explored various other mediums, primarily focusing on watercolour after the arrival of my two children.

I am largely Inspired largely by our planet’s beautiful flora and fauna and particularly enjoy capturing subjects close-up with their personality on full display.

In my artwork, I aim to capture watercolour’s natural movement by allowing different colours and pigments to flow together, building layers to enhance shapes and value shifts, and painting in a way that displays the texture of the surface beneath.

I love playing with different colour palettes to bring out different emotions, particularly through complementary colour schemes, limited colour palettes and painting monochromatic black subjects without using true black pigments itself.

Thank you so much for viewing at my artwork, and I hope that you find something that you connect with.
