Artwork Description

It is when I get closer to myself that I get closer to the other realm
Some may call it death
Some call it awakening.
Each time I make a remarkable discovery of myself
A part of me dies
Making me feel more alive
Each time I shed a skin of bad programming
I more pure me emerges
I want to be able to pass through each layer of reality
in my true capacity
Full of love
Full of potential
Full of my eternal energy
If I use my heart
I use my wings
If I look deep into the unknown
without fear
I do not fall
I fly
How great is this discovery
The strength of surrender
The power within
The lightness of being

Artist Bio

Jo Price (Te Whānau ā Apanui, Ngāpuhi) is a contemporary Maori visual artist. She specialises in residential commissions and large artworks for businesses and private homes. She has spent the last 10 years creating for clients in Italy, the United States, New Zealand and Australia. The focus of her work originates from the beauty expressed by nature, encompassing landscapes, seascapes, the human form and animals. She renders her artwork in an expressionist and abstracted style. Originally from Aotearoa (New Zealand), she now spends time in Brisbane, Australia.

(Statement from the Artist)
My artistic journey has been enriched by diverse experiences living across both foreign and native lands, experiences that have broadened my understanding of limits, languages, and ways of seeing. Through my work, I aim to express emotions and concepts from perspectives that transcend borders and speak to a shared human experience. Nature, inherent to us all, is at the core of my practice. I hope my art can serve as a bridge between cultures - especially the Australian, New Zealand, and Italian communities I am most closely connected with - highlighting the deep similarities in the indigenous traditions and intuitive wisdom that bind us together.
