Artwork Description

White Island volcano

Change, transition and the constant shifting of energy, is an undeniable force of life. Cycle aligns itself with many types of situations where closure or endings, no matter how difficult, in fact lead then to an opening, an opportunity and another stage of personal growth. Nature is a profound example of this truth, where new life and growth can spring from the effects of disaster, reminding us to absorb loss, transition and change and to view it as a part of the process which allows us to shine stronger and brighter.

Artist Bio

Jo Price (Te Whānau ā Apanui, Ngāpuhi) is a contemporary Maori visual artist. She specialises in residential commissions and large artworks for businesses and private homes. She has spent the last 10 years creating for clients in Italy, the United States, New Zealand and Australia. The focus of her work originates from the beauty expressed by nature, encompassing landscapes, seascapes, the human form and animals. She renders her artwork in an expressionist and abstracted style. Originally from Aotearoa (New Zealand), she now spends time in Brisbane, Australia.

(Statement from the Artist)
My artistic journey has been enriched by diverse experiences living across both foreign and native lands, experiences that have broadened my understanding of limits, languages, and ways of seeing. Through my work, I aim to express emotions and concepts from perspectives that transcend borders and speak to a shared human experience. Nature, inherent to us all, is at the core of my practice. I hope my art can serve as a bridge between cultures - especially the Australian, New Zealand, and Italian communities I am most closely connected with - highlighting the deep similarities in the indigenous traditions and intuitive wisdom that bind us together.
